FHI’s Human Services New Hire Essentials Training Program is designed to prepare human service professionals to apply skills, knowledge, and attitudes across diverse practice settings, while building program capacity so as to offer clients the highest quality care and support.

  • Includes four online e-learning courses that newly hired Human Services staff can complete on their own, with exams that build competency and certificates.

This course covers the importance of viewing clients within the context of their environment, as they experience a broad range of problems in living in a variety of domains. We’ll discuss ways to support clients to understand the interdependent nature of the issues they face, and the value in developing assets that support them to become stable and secure.

Accountable Case Management in a Person-Centered/Data-Driven Organization

Understanding the continuous cycle of case management practices and a conceptual framework that supports clients in their transition to economic stability, security and mobility. Acquire a basic understand- ing of case management practices and the skills necessary to be successful in the job.

A person-centered and strengths-based approach to case management in human services, including the most important core skills, as well as the ethical issues of professional boundaries and client confidentiality. Provides an exercise on personal values and justifications that can be used with clients to support their goals. Supporting the case manager’s workplace effectiveness through self-care, lifelong learning, and time management.

Working with the Context of Poverty and Economic Barriers in Human Services

Understanding the complex context that clients dealing with poverty are living within, which makes it difficult to work towards change.
