An Overview
Our team can work closely with yours to modify one of these existing programs: Cornerstone in Financial Health (Cornerstone), Personal Economic Program (PEP) and Education for Independence (EFI). Furthermore, FHI can develop brand-new training uniquely designed for your organization. Our Leadership Team is also available to present on a variety of financial topics.

Customizable Programs
These tried-and-true programs are fully developed and have been delivered in-person and virtually throughout our community. Our facilitators create safe learning environments and deftly handle even the toughest of questions. Timing, delivery-format and some curriculum components can be adjusted to meet your/your clients’ needs.
Customizable Program fees include a billing rate of $150/hour for customizations to a program’s base price. For an example: Education for Independence Base Price = $625, plus two (2) hours of customization billed at $150/hour. Total price = $ 925.

Foundation in Financial Health
This program is the foundation of Financial Health Institute’s (FHI) existence and one of our most popular offerings. Perfect for organizations serving individuals experiencing economic stress.

Personal Economics Program
This program is designed to promote understanding and behavioral changes for persons with limited income. Uses our Person-Centered Financial Education© (PCFE) model in a safe and supportive learning environment.

& Developmental Disabilities
This program provides learning opportunities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) as well as their families, case managers, host home providers and advocacy groups.

Custom Training Design
FHI develops, implements and delivers training programs specifically developed for employees, clients and customers of human services and economic development. We specialize in creating safe and inclusive adult and young adult Person-Centered Financial Education© (PCFE). We can work with your team and content specialist to develop a program customized to your needs.
Our team of experts is available to help you to create your own custom training(s). Custom training design is led by our Deputy Director, Joanne McLain, in close collaboration with her highly regarded team of empathetic educators. We offer these custom-designed courses in both in-person, on-demand and virtual-live (cloud-based video meeting) formats. Together, we can help your vision become a reality.

Young
Thought-leader Shawn Young is FHI’s Founder, Executive Director and the creator of Person-Centered Financial Education© (PCFE) both as a concept and as a model. He is also the author of a forthcoming book based on PCFE and his experiences leading the Financial Health Institute.
A passionate advocate of financial health and personal expression, Shawn enjoys teaching and leading thoughtful discussions. Shawn couples his lived experience with his storytelling acumen to deliver personally relevant financial education. He is known for his honest take, lively delivery and love of tennis in addition to his financial expertise.
Joanne
McLain
Joanne McLain, FHI’s Deputy Director, is well-versed in many things, including: PCFE, mental health, financial stress, addiction, adult learning and training for individuals employed in Human Services (and related) fields.
Joanne’s talents as a facilitator of learning and exploration inform her warm, thoughtful delivery and the creation of safe spaces for personal and professional growth. Her impressive ability to weave together meta and micro helps her to meet learners where they are and bring them more fully into their learning experience.
